Tanya Wallace-Gobern is a Prism Senior Fellow focused on workers' rights, bringing over 20 years of experience in labor and community organizing. She began her career at the Organizing Institute to learn the mechanics of union organizing. Soon after, Tanya's desire to organize Black workers led her to work for the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union (ACTWU—a predecessor union of Unite HERE) and move to the South to lead unionization campaigns in that region. Later, she created the AFL-CIO’s Historical Black College Recruitment program to increase the number of Black people among union leadership and staff. Her social justice career continued at the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions where she served as their national field director. Tanya became the executive director of the National Black Worker Center in June 2016.
